We are proud to have been awarded the IQM Centre of Excellence award.

At Beech Hill Community Primary School we are committed to making sure that all of our children have the support that they need so that they can achieve to the best of their ability. All of our children are individuals and we believe that they should have an inclusive education that allows them to flourish.
We work closely with children, parents and a range of professionals to create a learning environment and opportunities that meet the needs of our pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
What is SEND?
SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Children and Young People with SEND have learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for them to learn than most children and young people of the same age. These children and young people may need extra or different help from that given to others. Many children and young people who have SEN may also have a disability. A disability is described in law (the Equality Act 2010) as ‘a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term (a year or more) and substantial adverse effect on their ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.’ This includes, for example, sensory impairments such as those that affect sight and hearing, and long-term health conditions such as asthma, diabetes or epilepsy.
As parents there are many questions you may have about what our school is able to do to meet your child’s needs when choosing a school for your child. We aim to answer as many questions about how school will contribute to the Local Authority Local Offer as possible here but should you have any other questions please contact Mrs Saddington in school. Further detail about our provision for children with additional needs can be found in our Inclusion policy which can be found on the 'Key Documents' page below.
What is the Local Offer?
The Local Offer is a guide provided by your Local Authority that brings together information, services, and support for children and young people (aged 0–25) with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) into one place. For information on the Wigan Local Authority Local Offer, click here.
